BIRDS: FEEDERS - BATHS - WATCHING
______________________________________
The study of birds is called ornithology; it is a hobby
that many people love pursuing. I am an ornithologist.
Many people will only feed the birds in the winter months, which is when they need
it most, however, by feeding throughout the spring and summer months you will attract the migratory birds. Learning
the habits of the birds you wish to attract and learning what their feeding habits are will
help you decide the appropriate flowers, shrubs and trees for your area garden.

If you decide to put up bird houses it is important to remember that keeping your
bird house clean is very important to the health of your new feathered friends. With a bit of forethought, proper
planning and a little maintenance, the addition of new bird houses can bring birds to your garden every year. It is
viewing pleasure that you will never forget!
While almost any type of bird feeder or bird house will prove itself a delightful
addition to your landscape, remember that sometimes you will have wild bird visitors from over 60 miles away. This
does not include the migratory birds that may discover and make it a habit, year after
year of stopping in your garden! Many homeowners have been surprised and delighted to see the variety of
migratory birds that they have discovered feeding right in their own back yards.
You can pick up an inexpensive bird book at your local bookstore. You might be
amazed at the vast variety of birds located right in your own neighborhood. You are sure to soon find yourself
being an avid bird fan, feeding and attracting everything from finches to hummingbirds right in your own
backyard.
